Hayfever
Hayfever is an extremely common complaint said to affect around 6 million people each year in Britain. It is so common that the pollen count is reported on the daily weather report.
If you suffer from summer hayfever it is worth seeing your homeopath during the winter or early spring as constitutional treatment can gradually reduce the underlying disposition until the symptoms are no longer a problem.
The following remedies may be helpful for your acute symptoms:
Gelsemium – patients needing this remedy have red, swollen eyes which feel heavy. There will be lots of sneezing and the nose runs with a watery, acrid discharge. There may be the sensation of a lump in the throat.
Allium Cepa – The eyes run and smart and become light sensitive. There will be lots of sneezing and the nose runs with a watery, acrid discharge. There is a hacking cough on contact with cold air.
Sinapis Nigra – Hayfever starts in the summer and continues without ceasing until autumn. Sneezing is accompanied by a thick, acrid discharge. The chest feels heavy and breathing can be difficult. The eyes itch and burn.
Dulcamara – Mown grass is often the trigger. Watery nose is better for walking around. Symptoms are worse in the open air and better indoors in a warm room. The eyes ache and produce a thick yellow discharge.
